“Poland could become gas hub ambassador” says Paul W. Jones of the US Embassy

The ambassador expects the US exports of natural gas to Europe to grow in the foreseeable future.

“The timing is perfect with the fantastic new terminal at Świnoujście opening up and giving an opportunity for LNG to come into Poland but also to the whole region and for Poland to become a gas hub,” Jones told the Energetyka24.com website

“America is in the midst of an energy renaissance and we have started already exporting natural gas to Europe. We started in April. And that’s only going to grow,” Jones added.

“So more American gas is going to come on the market. We have brought nine companies together from the United States – exporters – to build relationships, to see what opportunities there can be going forward”.

“I’m confident things will come out of this. But it’s not necessarily tomorrow or next week. This is about learning what the opportunities are.”

The LNG terminal in Świnoujście, northern Poland, received its first shipment of fuel from Qatar last December.

The PLN 3 billion Baltic facility was built to allow Poland to diversify its gas supplies and reduce its dependence on Russia.
