Lech Walesa Airport becomes the new member of Polish-Swedish Chamber of Commerce

The Lech Walesa Airport, the first airport built completely from the scratch, was opened on May 2nd 1974 in Gdansk. Today it is a part of the national, European and worldwide transport system.

As the third airport in Poland when it comes to the size, it acts as a back-up to the Warsaw Chopin Airport. Increasing number of passengers, flight operations, freight as well as the expected further increase in the air traffic make it necessary to further develop the airport’s infrastructure. In 2012, the biggest investment program in the history of the company finished, which consisted of developing the already existing terminal as well as the new ones, developing the water draining system, aprons, emergency exit ways, etc. As for now, after the 2015 investments, the airport has the second ILS category which allows to execute the air operations in limited visibility conditions as well as the new arrivals part of the Terminal T2 along with the additional passenger sleeves.

The Gdansk Airport provides more than 60 direct connections, including 5 Swedish destinations -Gothenburg, Malmoe, Stockholm, Stockholm-Skavsta and Vaxjo.
