The Polish government is satisfied with the pace of works on a strategic natural gas pipeline project Baltic Pipe linking the Polish and Norwegian gas transit systems via Denmark and expects results of the feasibility study by the end of the year, Polish PM Beata Szydlo said at a joint press conference with Danish PM Lokke Rasmussen during his Monday visit to Warsaw.

“Baltic Pipe is a strategic investment for the Polish government and I have to say I am very satisfied its realization is going smoothly,” Szydlo said. “By the end of the year we will have feasibility study .”
“Our institutions will also work jointly on working out potential unified tariff rates,” she said
Treasury Minister Dawid Jackiewicz said that the project will improve Poland’s bargaining position in negotiations with Russian Gazprom in several years.
“I believe that the Norwegian project, that is linking our gas infrastructure with Norway, is absolutely crucial and important,” Jackiewicz said. “It will completely change the geopolitical context of our country, it will put us in a completely different situation in negotiations with Gazprom in several years.”
Mid-March Poland’s natural gas grid operator Gaz-System and its Danish counterpart Energinet.dk said they want to draft a feasibility study of the Baltic Pipe.
Polish gas group PGNiG previously said it eyes to complete building the link to end-2022. For the project to be profitable imports should stand at some 7 bcm, PGNiG officials said.
