Sejm Speaker Ewa Kopacz is the ruling coalition?s official candidate for the next prime minister, the president?s press officer Joanna Trzaska-Wieczorek said on Monday.
Earlier that day, President Bronisław Komorowski met Deputy PM Janusz Piechociński, leader of junior coalition partner Polish People?s Party, to discuss the issue. Last week the president talked to PM Donald Tusk.
?During the meeting with the deputy prime minister, the president was assured that the ruling coalition has a candidate for the post of prime minister and that Ewa Kopacz is the candidate,? Trzaska-Wieczorek told Polish Radio.
Tusk is expected to file his dismissal after the Tuesday sitting of the National Security Council, the president will accept in on Thursday and invite Kopacz to discuss her plans as a potential prime minister, Trzaska-Wieczorek said.
