Poland’s unemployment rate drops to 8.2% in March

The employment rate in March dropped to 8.2 percent, the lowest level for one month in 26 years, the Labour Ministry has said. The unemployment rate fell by 0.3% compared with the previous month.

The number of people registered at unemployment centres at the end of March amounted to 1.33 million. Compared to February, the figure dropped by 57,700.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Family, Labour and Social Policy Ministry said that year to year, the unemployment rate decreased by 1.7 percentage points – from 9.9 percent in March 2016 to 8.2 percent in March this year.

Employers submitted 167,500 new job offers last month, up by 30,000 month on month and the highest figure in over 20 years, the ministry added.
