Poland’s manufacturing sector activity expands in July – Markit Economics
Poland’s manufacturing sector purchasing managers’ index PMI, a gauge of manufacturing, edged up by 0.2 pts month on month to 54.5 points in July after a 1.9 pts increase in the previous month, a report by Markit showed. The Index grew for the second time since January and reached the best result since March.
A PMI figure below 50 indicates contraction, while above that level signals expansion.
“New order growth accelerated to a five month high, generating further marked increases in both output and employment,” the report reads.
“New export business rose at the fastest rate in nearly a year-and-a-half, and firms increased their prices for the first time since June 2012,” it added.
All five components of the index had a positive contribution to the headline figure.
Output prices increased for the first time since June 2012, Markit also said.
