Poland’s industrial output seen up by over 7pct y/y in March

Poland’s industrial output will likely increase by over 7% year on year in March, Development Ministry analysts said.

“The annual growth rate of the March results should be supported by one additional working day in comparison with March 2016,” the statement reads. “We expect the output growth pace to accelerate, especially in manufacturing.”

Poland’s industrial output in February increased by 1.2% y/y and fell by 0.9% from the prior month.

Poland’s economic growth in Q1 is unthreatened by the apparently disappointing industrial output data for February as the figures were most likely skewed by calendar effects, local analysts said.

The trend has not changed and the economy remains on the fast-growth track, Citi Handlowy chief economist Piotr Kalisz said. He expects close to 3.5% GDP y/y growth in Q1.
