The Central Statistical Bureau (GUS) informed that Poland’s GDP grew by 4% in the first quarter of 2017. In the previous quarter the growth reached 2,5%. Domestic demand is one of the main reasons for the dynamic growth, with 4,1% in the Q1 (a 1,7% increase over the previous period), which, in turn, was influenced chiefly by the consumption in households. The Ministry of Development expects that the growth in the second quarter will also be around 4%, with investments also recording better numbers (these fell by 0,4% in the Q1). PKO BP Bank expects that Poland’s GDP growth for the whole year of 2017 will reach 3,9%, while in 2018 – 4,1%, making it one of the highest in the European Union. The accuracy of these prognoses will depend on the situation in the Eurozone and on the global market, as well as aforementioned investment rate.
