Poland advanced by 3 places in 13th edition of World Bank Doing Business’ ranking . Poland has come 25th among 189 economies.
Doing Business project provides measures of business regulations and their reinforcement in countries and selected cities at the regional level. It also looks at domestic small and medium-size companies measuring the regulations applying to them through their life cycle. This year’s report covers 11 indicators.
In this ranking Poland comes before such countries as Switzerland, France and Netherlands. In accordance with the Polish Radio’s article, a decade back Poland came 75th in the ranking, but it is past and now we concur with the world’s biggest economies.
Poland for the second year in a row comes as the first in “Trading Across Borders” category. This measures the time and cost associated with three sets of procedures—documentary compliance, border compliance and domestic transport—within the overall process of exporting or importing a shipment of goods.
Poland advanced by 38 places in the “Paying Taxes” category and comes as 58th. However, Sweden for example comes unchangeably as 37th in this category and as 8th in general ranking. Sweden has advanced by one place since last year.
Marcin Piątkowski, the economist from the World Bank in Warsaw says that mainly reforms decided about the advance of Poland in this ranking: “We can catch up with Germany which come as 15th. It is possible. Within a year or two we can enter the top 20 and catch up with Germany” he summed up.
