Norway’s and Sweden’s biggest banks are joining forces

Norway’s biggest bank, DNB, along with Sweden’s biggest bank, Nordea, announced today an agreement to merge their operations in the Baltics. The result will be the biggest bank in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, overtaking both Swedbank and SEB.

“With its knowledge of the Baltic market, a close collaboration with clients, and the development of its digital bank services Nordea has built a solid and successful bank in the Baltics, with a strong position as the third largest in the region. Now it’s time to take the next step and build for the future. Together we will have the size, the stronger geographical presence and the extended product range required to become the customers’ first choice in the Baltics,” says Inga Skisaker, director of Banking Baltic Countries at Nordea.
