The company maintained the position of lider in the low-floor city bus segment for a 14th year in a row. Additionaly, the company has a 66% share in this segment. Most of the production goes outside the country, however, with the biggest markets being Germany, Israel and Italy.
2016 was a breakthrough year for Solaris also because of the electric buses. The Urbino 12 Electric won the Bus Of the Year award last September. The following month Solaris won the contract for 22 electric buses to be delivered to Jaworzno and 20 to Cracow. On top of this the new electric buses are to be delivered to Finland and Norway in accordance with the signed contracts. The total number of delivered electro buses is over 100.
“The following 2-3 years will be critical in this area and electric vehicles will become one of the pillars of our company’s production”– said during the last week’s conference the vice chairman of Solaris, Zbigniew Palenica.
