Another important step in Polish–Swedish cooperation is behind us. ORP Henryk Zygalski, built under the Delfin Programme and implemented through cooperation between Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. and the Swedish defence group Saab, was launched on 14 January.
The vessels will enable the Polish Navy to acquire maritime SIGINT (signals intelligence) data. Crew training will also be conducted in cooperation with the Swedish Navy. The ships will complement the operations of Saab 340 AEW&C Erieye AWACS aircraft, designed for air and maritime surveillance and air operations management.
The first vessel, ORP Jerzy Różycki, was launched in July 2025. The ships are scheduled to enter service in 2027 and 2028, respectively.The Swedish side was represented at the ceremony, among others, by Ambassador Martina Quick.
