Her Royal Majesty, Queen Silvia of Sweden visited Poland on 1 March 2017. Her visit focused on the elderly care och those with dementia. Another topic which was discussed was education of future nurses. HRM took part in the official handing of the Nursery Prize of Queen Silvia. The winner was Natalia Duszeńska from Warsaw Medical University, whose project “It is never too late for dreams” aims to engage NGOs, institutions and local officials in making the dream’s of the elderly true. The event was held in the residence of Swedish Ambassador to Poland, Inga Eriksson Fogh. Queen Silvia visited also Medicover Senior House of Care Józefina and Medicover Hospital in Warsaw’s Wilanów district, where she met with the nurses.
The aim of the visit was to create an area of discussion regarding challenges of elderly care and respecting the role of the nurse. Queen Silvia Nursing Award is a gift, which the organisation Swedish Care International prepared for Her Majesty in celebration of her 70th birthday. Said organisation is responsible for organizing the competition in Sweden, while Medicover does the same in Poland.
