Poles spent PLN 8.4 billion in other countries in the same period, according to GUS.
Looking at Poland’s land border, people coming into the country from Germany spent the most (48 percent of the total for foreigners crossing the land border in Q2 2016), followed by Ukraine (19.9 percent), the Czech Republic (11.6 percent) and Slovakia (7.9 percent).
Foreigners crossing the European Union’s external land border in Poland in Q2 spent 84 percent of their total spending in Poland on non-food goods, 12 percent on food and non-alcoholic beverages and 4 percent on services.
Of non-food goods, foreigners spent the most on home construction and renovation goods (25 percent of non-food spending), household appliances and audio/video equipment (18 percent) and parts and accessories for means of transport (15 percent), GUS reported.
