Consumer price index falls by 0.9%

Consumer price index (Inflation) in March was 0.1% higher than in February and 0.9%  lower than in March 2015 years according to data given by Central Statistical Office (GUS).
Analysts had expected CPI inflation at 0.1% m/m and -0.9% y/y. In February, the rate was -0.1% m/m and -0.8% y/y. Today’s figures coincided with the initial estimates, which GUS showed on March 31.
March was the 21st consecutive month when the Central Statistical Office reported deflation, defined as a negative annual growth rate of the CPI. The strongest decline in prices was observed in February 2015 when the consumer price index decreased by 1.6% y/y.
