In a press release, Skanska writes that in the autumn of this year the construction company carried out a strategic review and extensive restructuring activities aimed at improving profitability. Consequently, around 3,000 employees in Europe will be dismissed. In Poland, it will lose about 2.5 thousand employees in one of the largest construction companies on the market.
– We decided to restructure to increase the focus on business profitability in countries such as Poland and the Czech Republic. We want to focus on the UK as well as the energy market in the USA – said Andres Danielsson, the company’s president during the conference summarizing the previous year.
The management decided to restructure the buildings in Poland, leave the energy sector in the United States, focus on the main operations in the United Kingdom and adapt the operations in the Czech Republic to the more difficult market. Skanska estimates that redundancies mean savings of around SEK 1 billion per year.
