Poland’s PKO BP bank to open Prague branch

Czech authorities have given Poland’s largest bank, state-controlled PKO BP, the green light to launch its first branch in Prague next year.

The new branch is expected to open in the first half of 2017 and will have a corporate banking focus.

The Czech Republic is one of the most important markets for the Polish bank’s existing corporate customers and the fifth largest trade partner for Polish companies, a PKO BP statement said.

The bank’s deputy CEO, Maks Kraczkowski, said: “A Polish bank will better understand the need of its country’s businesses… and therefore can better tailor its offering to their needs.”
