Uptick in retail sales growth in Poland

Retail sales in constant prices year-on-year increased in June by 6.6% (in comparison with a 4.7% growth in the previous month and 1.8% in June last year). Compared to May this year the increase amounted to 1.0% (contrasting the last year´s fall by 0.8%).

In June this year the increase in sales in constant prices year-on-year persevered in most groups. Among the groups with significant share in total retail sales, the highest increase was noted in the entities dealing with car sales (by 25.0% compared to a decline the year before by 7.0%) and the remaining units conducting retail sales in non-specialized stores (by 8.5% against an increase of 4.8% last year).

In the other groups with lower share in total retail sales significantly increased sales in grouping “press, books, other sales in specialized stores” (by 19.3%) and clothing (by 17.6%) Decline sales showed entities in the remaining groups (by 6.3%).
In the time from January to June this year retail sales increased compared to the same period last year by 3.9% (against a growth of 5.3% in 2014.).
