Minister Szczurek pointed out that “the euro area itself is constantly changing, today is completely different than in 2004”.
The eurozone is currently in peril due to the fact that Greece is considering leaving the zone. On Sunday news outlets reported that the European Central Bank would be ending emergency lending to Greece’s banks.
“We know today that the eurozone is not completely managing to deal with macroeconomic imbalances, with the loss of competitiveness of some countries to others. The date given today as to when we have to enter the euro zone does not make sense and is not appropriate mainly because we had better be sure which kind of geopolitical and economic mechanism we are entering,” Minister Szczurek said.
