Polish firms among Europe’s slackest in paying invoices

69.5 percent of invoices were paid late by Polish firms in 2013 according to research carried out by the Bisnode services company. The study, which examined 15 European countries, found that only the United Kingdom and Portugal had worse records than Poland in 2013. Businesses across Europe most frequently cited the tardiness of their own contractors in honouring payments as the most common cause of delays.

On average, the size of a given business had little effect on the swiftness with which invoices were paid in Poland. The most efficient country in paying invoices on time turned out to be Denmark, with 87 percent of companies meeting the deadline.
