Law and Justice wins European Parliamentary elections in Poland

Results from the 91 percent of the polling stations show that Law and Justice has won the European Parliamentary elections in Poland with 32.35 percent of the votes. Ruling Civic Platform got 31.29 percent of the votes. Both parties will have 19 MEPs each in the next European Parliament.

Junior coalition members the Polish People’s Party managed to claim 7.2 percent of the vote, with their members joining Civic Platform in the European Peoples Party in the European Parliament. The Democratic Left Alliance together with the Labor Union took 9.55 percent.

Meanwhile, right-wing maverick Janusz Korwin-Mikke managed to poll as much as 7.06 percent.

The result comes as a number of far-right parties are gaining support throughout Europe.
