Poland’s rate of unemployment in June fell to 12.0 percent from 12.5 percent in May, according to the data published by the Central Statistical Office (GUS). Unemployment rate in July declined to 11.9 percent.
?The declining unemployment rate confirms a trend present for the past two years. Since the beginning of this year, the number of unemployed persons has been declining every month,? as results from an estimate issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy.
At the end of June, a little more than 1,900,000 people were registered as jobless GUS reported.
Newly created jobs stood at 85,300, down from 95,900 in May and up from 76,100 in June last year.
In June, 256 enterprises declared that in the near future they planned to lay off 21,400 people, including 3,700 in the public sector.
Last year, 432 enterprises planned to lay off a total of 33,900 employees, including 7,900 in the public sector.
